"equinox," by Donna Ahrend

i reach for mother
i reach to the earth
i stand with tall trees
and witness a birth

i reach for father
i reach to the sky
i soar with eagles
who teach me to fly

emerging from winter
fragmented, alone
i create from mySelves
a new cornerstone

reclaiming each splinter
with love, time and space
repairing the fractures
at slow, even pace

fear is the scout
who paves a safe way
love is the guide
who fires the clay

i reach for the mother
the stones hold my tears
the trees are my witness
i weep for lost years

the winter is ending
hope springs from my womb
i suckle the newborn
and watch mySelf bloom
